Italian premium two-wheeler company Aprilia has launched its new SXR GT maxi-scooter range in India. The company has introduced it in two variants. The SXR GT 125 hp-e is priced at Rs 1.11 lakh and the SXR GT 175 hp-e is priced at Rs 1.31 lakh (ex-showroom). The new model has an updated engine, larger 14-inch wheels and more features than before.

The new GT range replaces the older SXR model

The company has introduced the new SXR GT range to replace the old SXR 125 and SXR 160. These older models were discontinued in May. The new scooter is not a completely new model, rather the company has re-introduced the existing SXR design with a new engine and updated features.

Its design is the same maxi-scooter style as before. It has a large front apron, wide seat and large body design. However, the name GT is clear that the company is presenting it as a more comfortable scooter for long distance and touring.

124.5cc engine in SXR GT 125

The Aprilia SXR GT 125 has a 124.5cc single-cylinder engine. This engine generates 10.6 hp of power at 7,400 rpm and 10.4 Nm of torque at 6,200 rpm. Whereas, the SXR GT 175 has a 174.7cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine. It delivers 13.3 hp of power at 7,200 rpm and 14.1 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. Both engines are designed to BS6 OBD-II Stage B standards and can run on E20 petrol.

Both the scooters will now get 14-inch tyres

One of the biggest changes to the new SXR GT range is the 14-inch wheels. Both the variants get bigger tyres. This can help in keeping the scooter more stable on bad and bumpy roads. This is expected to give the rider better confidence even at high city speeds. The platform of both the scooters is derived from the respective SR model introduced last year.

More Features in SXR GT 175

In terms of features, the SXR GT 175 is more premium. It has a 5-inch TFT digital display, with Bluetooth connectivity. This enables turn-by-turn navigation along with call and music control. It also features additional handlebar controls, single-channel ABS and a new exhaust end pipe. A heat shield is also available on the exhaust.

LCD screen and CBS in SXR GT 125

The SXR GT 125 has a 5-inch LCD instrument cluster. It has a combined braking system i.e. CBS instead of ABS. The 125cc engine and fewer features keep it priced at Rs 1.11 lakh, which is Rs 20,000 less than the SXR GT 175.
