Anjali Sardana, educated in America, proved that it is not necessary to have an IIT or IIM degree to build a big company. After graduating from Georgetown University with a degree in biology, he decided to start his own startup instead of pursuing a career. He turned the problem of providing reliable help for household chores into a business opportunity. His startup Pronto made a name for itself in many cities in a short span of time. As of early July 2026, the company was valued at around Rs. 2,000 crore was estimated.
A shortage of domestic workers led to the startup idea
Anjali Sardana began to understand the Indian domestic worker market during her college days. They found that it was often difficult to find reliable help for household tasks such as cleaning, washing dishes, laundry and cooking. He started Pronto to solve this problem.
Launched on April 1, 2025, Pronto is an app through which people can book trained workers for daily household chores. The company provides services through local hubs. Its aim is to provide domestic help to people in a short period of time. Apart from this, this platform also provides employment opportunities by training the workers.
degree from Georgetown University
Anjali graduated in 2024 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Georgetown University, USA. After this he invested in Ban Capital and 8VC. Here he gained experience in understanding startups, investments and business models. He used this experience to start his own business.
In the beginning many difficulties were faced
Pronto started from a small hub in Gurugram, where around 170 bookings were made every day. In the early stages, Anjali and her five-member team had to work hard. Team members slept on the floor of the office even at night and handled bookings. Teaching workers to use the app wasn’t easy either. Many people couldn’t read the written instructions, so the team used colors and pictures to teach them how to use the app. The team also faced opposition when adding domestic helpers to the platform.
The family also questioned the idea
Anjali’s parents are entrepreneurs, but initially even her father did not believe in this business idea. Anjali took this as a challenge and raised seed funds without informing her family. After this he quit the job and concentrated fully on Pronto.
Soon it reached many cities
The startup, which initially had limited bookings, started handling more than 18,000 bookings per day in early 2026. The company was spread across 5 major cities including Delhi-NCR. According to Tracxn, it was valued at $202 million as of early July 2026, roughly Rs. 2,000 crores.
