Tata Motors has launched its new sedan Tata Aris in the Indian market at Rs. Presented with an ex-showroom price of 5.29 lakhs. A safety demo by the company to showcase the car’s prowess is in the news these days. In this test, about 20 tons of stones and ballast fell on the car from the dumper. Even after this the car’s structure seemed to be largely secure and it was even shown driving after the demo.

Through this video, the company has tried to show the strength of the body structure and choice of the car. Tata Aris is expected to compete with sedans like Maruti Dzire, Honda Amaze and Hyundai Aura in the Indian market.

The video went viral on social media

This demo showcasing the power of the Tata Aeris is much talked about on social media. In the video, a large amount of stones and gravel are falling on the car. Even after losing so much weight, the car was shown running after the demo.

The company says that through such practical demos, the strength of the car’s platform and chassis can be understood. However, it’s important to note that this type of demo is not a substitute for an official crash-test rating.

Many features are available for security

The official Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP crash-test rating of the Tata Eris is yet to be announced. However, many safety related features have been provided in the car. The sedan has features like 6 airbags for all passengers, 360-degree camera, in-built dashcam, blind-spot monitoring and Electronic Stability Program (ESP). Apart from this, hill-hold control, roll-over mitigation, corner stability control and ISOFIX mounts for child seats are also provided.

Engine and Powertrain

Talking about the performance, the Tata Eris is powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine generates 86bhp of power and 113Nm of torque. Along with this, 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox options are available.

A CNG variant of the car is also available. In the CNG model, the engine generates 76bhp of power and 97Nm of torque. This option can be seen especially for those customers who drive the car daily and also keep the running costs in mind.

Who can it be useful for?

Tata Aris can attract buyers who look for value, features and safety in a sedan. Its starting price, many safety features and option of CNG along with petrol make it an interesting option in this segment.

However, it would be better to draw a final conclusion about the actual crash safety of the car only after the official India NCAP or Global NCAP rating comes out. At the same time, the company’s 20-ton demo is a way to show off its structural strength, but shouldn’t be considered the equivalent of a crash-test rating.
