Good news for young people preparing to pursue research careers in the fields of law, social sciences and public policy. National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru has announced its Fellowship Scheme for 2026. Under this scheme, candidates will get an opportunity to engage in research, policy development and academic work. Educational qualification and experience conditions are prescribed for various categories of fellowships. Selected candidates will be paid Rs. per month according to their fellowship category. 50 thousand to Rs. A stipend of up to 2 lakhs will be given.

Fellowship in three categories

In this scheme of NLSIU, candidates can apply for three types of fellowship based on their qualification and experience. These include Graduate Research Fellowships, Postdoctoral Fellowships and University Research Fellowships.

For Graduate Research Fellowship a candidate for LL.B. Must have a degree. Candidates pursuing Post Graduation in Social Sciences, Public Policy or related subjects can also apply.

For postdoctoral fellowships, Ph.D. in the last three years in a discipline such as law, social science or public policy. It needs to be completed. The candidate should not have previously worked in a postdoctoral position at any other university.

A university research fellowship for PhD sought a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in education or a related field. A candidate’s publication record should also be strong.

Stipend ranging from 50 thousand to 2 lakh rupees

The amount received in the fellowship varies according to the post. Graduate Research Fellows will receive a monthly allowance of Rs. 50,000, postdoctoral fellows Rs. 1,20,000 and University Research Fellows Rs. A stipend of up to 2,00,000 will be available. During the fellowship, the selected candidates will have to contribute to research and policy related work.
