If you are planning to travel somewhere during the festive season holidays, it can cost you quite a bit. Oil companies have increased the price of jet fuel used in aircraft by more than 13 percent. The biggest expense in running an airline is fuel. In such a situation the air fares are increased by the companies. A similar situation is being seen this time too. On the other hand, companies have also increased the prices of commercial LPG gas cylinders. No change was observed in domestic gas cylinder prices. Let us also tell you how much the price of jet fuel has been increased by the oil companies.
How expensive has jet fuel become?
Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices have been hiked by a whopping Rs 16 per liter since Thursday due to the rise in crude oil prices in the international market, according to state-run oil companies. According to oil companies, the price of ATF for domestic airlines has been increased from Rs 121 to Rs 137 per litre. ATF price per liter in September was Rs. 6.28 (or 5.46 percent) and in August Rs. This latest change comes after an increase of 5 per litre. This means that the price of jet fuel has seen an increase of Rs 27 per liter i.e. more than 25 per cent in three consecutive months. ATF accounts for 40 percent of airlines’ operating costs, making fuel prices a significant source of cost for airlines.
Commercial gas cylinders have also become expensive
Along with this, the rate of commercial LPG has been increased by Rs 62.59 on a 19 kg cylinder. After two consecutive months of cuts of Rs 192 in August and Rs 183.50 in July, commercial LPG prices were hiked by Rs 9.50 per 19 kg cylinder in September. The cut came when commercial LPG prices hit a record high in June due to global energy supply disruptions and rising international prices. Between February and June, before falling in July and August, commercial LPG prices were Rs. 1,740.50 to Rs. 1,373 to Rs. 3,113.50, which was on a 19-kg cylinder.
There has been no change in the price of domestic gas cylinders
These latest changes are based on international benchmark prices and fluctuations in the rupee-dollar exchange rate. ATF and LPG prices are revised on the 1st of every month and may vary from state to state due to local taxes like VAT. Domestic LPG price per 14.2 kg cylinder is Rs. 942 have been kept unchanged. Domestic cooking gas rates rose by Rs. per cylinder between March and June following supply disruptions due to the West Asian crisis and the rise in international energy prices. 89 was increased. Petrol and diesel prices, which in May were around Rs. 7.50 per liter was hiked, that too remains unchanged.
