Customers’ love for Mahindra vehicles broke, sales crossed lakhs in a month, exports soared

Mahindra & Mahindra has released the sales figures for September 2026. Last month was very good for the company in terms of sales. Mahindra sold a total of 1,14,874 vehicles in September including domestic sales and exports. A year-on-year increase in the company’s total sales was recorded at 15 percent. Apart from SUVs, this total also includes sales of light commercial vehicles ie LCVs, three-wheelers and exports weighing less than 3.5 tonnes.

More than 64 thousand SUVs were sold in September

In September, Mahindra sold 64,092 utility vehicles in the domestic market. In September last year, the company sold 56,233 units. That is, this time the sale of utility vehicles has increased by 14 percent year-on-year.

Mahindra’s domestic passenger vehicle sales include utility vehicles only. The company did not sell any cars or vans in September. At the same time, between April and September 2026, sales of domestic utility vehicles increased by 20 percent to 3.58 lakh units. The company had sold 2.98 lakh units in the same period last year.

Demand for electric SUVs has also increased

According to Velusamy R, president of Mahindra & Mahindra’s automotive business, the company’s SUV sales rose 14 percent to 64,092 units in September. At the same time, total vehicle sales reached 1,14,874 units, which is 15 percent higher than last year.

The company said its EV has crossed the 1 lakh billing mark since its launch. Mahindra is also steadily increasing its presence in the electric four-wheeler segment. The company has emerged as the second largest company in this segment after Tata Motors.

Sales of commercial vehicles and 3-vehicles have also increased

Mahindra’s domestic commercial vehicle sales also increased in September. The company sold 30,420 commercial vehicles during the period, which is 14 percent higher than last year. Sales of LCVs below 2 tonnes increased by 19 per cent to 4,044 units. At the same time, sales of LCVs weighing between 2 tonnes and 3.5 tonnes increased by 13 per cent to 26,376 units.

Mahindra has also enjoyed good growth in the three-wheeler segment. Including the e3W, the company sold 16,343 three-wheelers in September, up 26 percent year-on-year. Between April and September 2026, three-wheeler sales increased by 53 percent to 82,058 units. The figure was 53,578 units in the same period last year.

Exports fell in September, but rose 48% in 6 months

Mahindra’s export numbers were a bit weak in September. The company exported a total of 4,019 vehicles last month, compared to 4,320 units in September 2025. That is, exports have decreased by 7 percent year-on-year in September.

However, if we look at the entire period from April to September 2026, the picture was different. Mahindra’s total exports increased by 48 percent to 30,031 units in the six months. In the same period last year, the company exported 20,303 vehicles. That is, despite the decline in monthly exports in September, Mahindra has posted a sharp increase in total export sales in the first six months of the current fiscal.
