Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has released the Joint Implementation Committee Report 2026. This report is based on Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Advanced 2026 Pattern, Admission. The report also highlights the preferences of candidates who topped JEE Advanced 2026. According to the report, Computer Science Engineering (CSE) branch has become the first choice for JEE Advanced 2026 toppers. So the second choice of toppers has become electrical engineering.

Out of the top 500 candidates, 365 chose CSE branch, followed by aerospace and chemical branch.
As per IIT Roorkee Joint Implementation Committee Report 2026, CSE branch has been the first choice of JEE Advanced 2026 toppers. The report shows that out of the top 500 toppers in JEE Advanced 2026, 353 have opted for the CSE branch, while 58 have taken admission in the electrical engineering branch. 2 out of 500 toppers have taken admission in civil engineering branch. 1 have taken admission in Mathematics Computing and 38 in Mechanical Engineering.
According to the report, none of the 500 toppers in JEE Advanced 2026 opted for aerospace engineering, chemical engineering, electronics and communication engineering, electrical and electronic communication engineering.
First choice of IIT Bombay toppers for admission
As per IIT Roorkee Joint Implementation Committee Report 2026, IIT Bombay has been the first choice of JEE Advanced 2026 toppers. The report shows that 183 of the top 500 ranked candidates in JEE Advanced 2026 have taken admission in IIT Bombay. Similarly, in terms of admissions, IIT Delhi has been the second choice of toppers, with 115 of the top 500 in JEE Advanced 2026 taking admission in IIT Delhi.
1.79 candidates appeared for JEE Advanced 2026
As per the rules, only the category-wise top 2.50 lakh candidates in JEE Main get a chance to appear for JEE Advanced. In this category, out of 2.50 lakh candidates from Main, 1,87,389 candidates registered for JEE Advanced 2026. Out of them only 1,79,694 candidates appeared for both papers of JEE Advanced 2026. Out of these only 56,880 candidates qualified. Among the qualified candidates, 10,107 were women.
