Mahindra has updated many of its SUVs in recent months. After XUV 7XO, Scorpio N and Thar OG, the company can now eye its popular XUV 3XO. According to reports, Mahindra may launch the new version of the XUV 3XO on 15 October 2026. The company is yet to officially confirm it, but there is talk that it might come in the market as a CNG version of the SUV.

Mahindra may bring a CNG car for the first time

Mahindra launched the XUV 3XO in 2024. After this the SUV sold well and the company also added some new variants as per customer preference. Now if the CNG model of the 3XO arrives, it could be Mahindra’s first factory-fitted CNG vehicle.

Amid rising prices of petrol and diesel, the use of CNG is steadily increasing. In such a situation, introducing a CNG SUV can be a way for the company to reach out to new customers. This may also help Mahindra meet the upcoming CAFE 3 regulations.

Which engines can the 3XO CNG come with?

Currently, the XUV 3XO is available with a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder turbo petrol MPFI engine. Apart from this, 1.2-litre mStallion turbo petrol and 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine options are also available.

If reports are to be believed, the company might use the 1.2-litre turbo MPFI engine for the CNG model. In the petrol version, this engine produces 111 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque. It is possible that this figure will decrease on CNG.

A manual gearbox is expected to be available in the CNG version. However, considering the growing demand for CNG automatic, Mahindra may also offer an automatic option. This has not been confirmed yet.

Will boot space be affected?

Some technical modifications will have to be made to the SUV to fit the CNG kit. The company can modify the suspension, ECU tuning and other parts. CNG tank is likely to get space in the boot.

It remains to be seen whether Mahindra adopts a twin-cylinder CNG setup like Tata and Hyundai or offers a larger single-cylinder tank. This can directly affect the boot space.

How much could the price be?

The XUV 3XO is currently priced between ₹7.79 lakh to ₹15.04 lakh (ex-showroom). If the CNG model comes, it might cost a bit more than the petrol version. Currently, Mahindra has not given any official information about the October 15 launch.

The XUV 3XO competes with Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet. Of these, the Nexon and Brezza already offer a factory-fitted CNG option. In such a situation, the entry of 3XO CNG will be a new step for Mahindra in this segment.

A great opportunity to buy a luxury car! The company is offering a bumper discount of up to ₹1.70 lakh
