Because of this, there is a lot of benefit in the business here on Saturday and Sunday. Let us also tell you what kind of update has come out regarding the damage.

2 thousand crores expected to be a loss

The New Delhi Traders Association (NDTA) has said that the Connaught Place market remained closed on Saturday in view of the CJP’s protest on Jantar-Mantar. The association expressed concern about the safety of people and possible damage to property. Due to which the market was closed. NDTA joint secretary Amit Gupta said in a statement that the decision has been taken to protect lives and property as thousands of people visit Connaught Place over the weekend. Traders’ association claims that traders will lose crores of rupees due to the closure of the market in this major commercial hub. Further, Brijesh Goyal, president of the Chamber of Trade and Industry, claimed that the protest and market shutdown cost traders around Rs. 2,000 crores will be lost.

NDTA’s appeal to Govt

Acknowledging the right of citizens to protest in a democracy, Gupta said protests should not be such that it threatens public safety, damages businesses or disrupts essential services, as this can bring the city to a standstill and inconvenience residents. The CJP has called for a proposed protest against CEC Gyanesh Kumar. The protest is over allegations of manipulation of electoral rolls (especially during the Special Intensive Scrutiny of Electoral Rolls – SIR) and changes related to ‘Form 6’ used for voter registration. Delhi Police has not given permission for this protest. The NDTA has also appealed to the government to move protest sites away from city centers and markets to larger, open spaces, so that businesses and the general public face minimal disruption.
