Two new vehicles may soon enter the Indian market. While Maruti Suzuki is working on its new electric MPV, Hyundai is gearing up to launch its new midsize SUV Bayon. Both the vehicles are being brought in with different customers in mind. Maruti’s electric MPV, codenamed YMC, could be introduced by the end of this year or early next year. On the other hand, Hyundai Bayon will make its global debut on October 12. After this, it is likely to be launched in the Indian market in the coming weeks. The booking of this SUV has started with a token amount of Rs 11,000.

Hyundai Bayon: Creta engine and many new features

The Indian model of the Hyundai Bayon is likely to get the Creta’s 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine produces 115bhp of power and 144Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic gearbox. Apart from this, the company may also introduce its CNG variant. If this happens, it will be Hyundai’s first CNG car that will be more than four meters long. Talking about the design, the look of the Byno coming to India may be different from the global model. The international model has a hatchback-like design, while the Indian version is expected to be launched as an SUV.

Talking about the features, it might get a curved dual-screen setup inspired by the Venue. Apart from this, features like three-spoke steering wheel with four dot logo, ventilated front seats, sunroof and wireless phone charger can be offered. It is also expected to get Level 2 ADAS and a 360-degree camera to improve safety and ease of driving.

Maruti YMC Electric MPV: 6 and 7-seater options

Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming electric MPV may compete with the Kia Carens Clavis EV. Codenamed YMC, the vehicle is likely to use the Maruti Evitara’s platform and powertrain. It can be offered in 6-seater and 7-seater options, making it a useful option for larger families.

In terms of battery, a 49kWh battery pack can be found in its initial variants. At the same time, the more expensive variant may offer a larger 61kWh battery. The electric MPV of the company is expected to get a range of more than 500 kilometers on a single full charge. However, the actual range will depend on driving conditions and other circumstances.

This 4.5 meter long MPV can get features like a large touchscreen infotainment system, wireless smartphone connectivity and wireless charging. Apart from this, driver seat with electric adjustment, ventilated front seat and multiple airbags are also likely to be offered.

What will be special about both cars?

The Hyundai Bayon can attract customers who want a new SUV with a petrol or almost CNG option. At the same time, Maruti’s electric MPV could be a new option for families looking for an electric car with more seats and a longer range. However, the complete picture of both the vehicles will be clear only after the official information about their price and all the features comes out.
