Navodaya Vidyalaya has good news for students preparing to take admission in class 9 and 11. Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has extended the last date to apply for Lateral Entry Admission Test (LEST 2027) for the academic session 2027-28. Now interested students can register online till 22 October 2026. Earlier the last date to apply was October 15. The committee has extended the application date for the second time. You will also be given an opportunity to correct errors in the form. The selection test for admission to class 9 and 11 will be held on 10 April 2027.

Apply by October 22

Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti is running the application process for admission to vacant seats in class 9 and 11. You can apply through the official website. Click here for class 9 and click here for class 11. The opportunity to amend the application form will be available from 23rd to 25th October 2026. During this time, candidates can change their category, gender, area and disability related information.

Qualification for Class 9th

Students applying for Class 9 must be studying in Class 8 in a government or recognized school of the respective district in the academic session 2026-27. The student’s residence and school district must be the same. Candidate’s date of birth should be between 1 May 2012 to 31 July 2014. Students who have already passed class 8th cannot apply. Candidates who have previously appeared in the selection test will also not be able to re-sit the test.

Conditions for Admission to Class 11

To apply for Class 11, a student must have studied Class 10 from a government or recognized school in the session 2026-27. Candidate’s date of birth should be between 1 June 2010 to 31 July 2012. Application can be made to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya of the same district where the student is studying in class 10th and from which he is a native. Candidates can choose a maximum of two streams and three schools for each stream.

The entrance exam will be held on 10th April

The selection exam for class 9 and 11 will be held on 10 April 2027. Both the exams will be of two and a half hours duration and the questions will be multiple choice. In the class 9 exam, 35 questions each will be asked from Mathematics and General Science, while 15 questions each will be asked from Hindi and English. The Class 11 exam will have 20 questions each from Mental Ability, English, Science, Social Science and Mathematics. 100 marks are fixed for a total of 100 questions in both the exams. There will be no negative marking in the examination.

To apply, you have to visit the official website of Navodaya Vidyalaya. Click on the registration link for class 9 and 11 there. After this, open the application form of the respective class, fill the required information and upload the required documents. Check all the information before submitting the form. Candidates should keep photographs, student and guardian signatures, Aadhaar related information and academic documents ready. Residence, date of birth and category or disability certificate, if applicable, may also be required. Documents have to be uploaded in prescribed format and size.
