Fee deposit rules have been changed for candidates who have secured medical seats in NEET PG 2026 counselling. As per the revised instructions of the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), candidates who want to upgrade their seats in the next counseling round will not need to deposit the first year course fee till the result is declared. Whereas, candidates who decide to take admission on their allotted seat will have to deposit the fee directly to the concerned NBEMS accredited hospital. The reporting and joining process for Round-1 has started from 26th October.
Fee relaxation for those upgrading their seats
In NEET PG 2026 counselling, NBEMS informed about the rules regarding fee deposit. As per the new rules, candidates have to decide whether they want to take admission in the seat allotted to them or try for a better seat in the next round. Existing seat acceptors will have to deposit the first year fee in the respective NBEMS accredited hospital, while those opting for seat upgrade will be exempted from paying the fee till the next round result is declared.
Consider the freeze and float option
Freezing a seat in counseling means that the candidate wants to take admission in the allotted seat only. Candidates have to reach the institute within the stipulated time and complete the admission process. In the float option, if the seat is upgraded, the fee for the new seat will have to be deposited, while if the seat is not upgraded, it will be necessary to join the old seat.
NEET PG 2026 Counseling Schedule
As per MCC, reporting and joining of Round-1 will be from 26 October to 2 November 2026. Round-2 result will be out on 14th November and reporting will take place from 16th to 23rd November. The third round result will be declared on December 4, while reporting will be done from December 5 to 12. The online vacancy round result will be out on 24th December. The reporting process for the spot round will run from December 24 to 31.
There is no change in the joining deadline
NBEMS has clarified that the change in fee rules will not affect the last date of reporting and joining. Candidates have to complete the admission process within the stipulated time. The training period on the upgraded seat will be counted from the date of joining on the new seat.
Further, the Online Portal for Joining and Registration (OPJR) of NBEMS will remain closed till all counseling stages are completed. After this, the joining information and required documents can be submitted through the portal. Candidates should keep checking the notifications issued on the official website of MCC for updated information.
