Apple has set limits for customers buying iPhones in India. Now the customer can buy only 2 iPhones from the company’s online store. This rule applies not only to the new iPhone Duo, iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, but to all the company’s iPhone models. A customer can buy 2 phones of the same model or choose different models. However, the website will show a warning if you add a third iPhone to the order.
The change comes at a time when Apple’s first foldable smartphone iPhone Duo is going on sale in India on October 23. Its pre-booking has started from October 16.
Why did Apple put a limit on buying an iPhone?
Apple has not yet given a reason for this decision. However, it is believed that the purpose of this rule may be to prevent people from buying and reselling the phone in large numbers and to maintain the availability of the phone for general consumers. On adding a third iPhone on Apple’s website, customers get a message that the customer can buy a maximum of 2 iPhones. In order to move forward, the number of phones has to be reduced.
This means that if a customer wants to buy 3 or more iPhones for his family members or as a gift, he will not be allowed to do so in a single order from Apple’s online store.
The limit was also imposed 19 years ago
This is not the first time that Apple has set such a limit. Even when the first iPhone was launched in 2007, the company set a limit of 2 phones per customer. Its purpose was to prevent black marketing of buying and reselling phones on a large scale.
A decision amid growing demand for the iPhone Duo
Apple’s move comes amid reports of strong demand for the iPhone Duo. Its pre-booking started from October 16. According to reports, shortly after bookings began, delivery estimates for some customers went up to January.
