CBSE Three Language Policy: There is a major update on the three language policy of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Students studying in Class 6 in CBSE affiliated schools will also be exempted from the three language policy. The Supreme Court has instructed CBSE in this regard. The Supreme Court has directed to exempt the current batch of Class 6 in CBSE affiliated schools from the three language policy. The Supreme Court gave this direction when the Central Government told the Supreme Court that it was not in favor of exempting Class 6 and that around 99% CBSE schools were ready to implement the policy.

6th standard students will not have to take the third language board exam
CBSE has implemented a three-language policy in its schools this year, under which students will be taught three languages. CBSE has exempted 7th, 8th, 9th and 9th standard students from the three language policy, under which these students are not required to appear in 10th board exams in three languages. CBSE had earlier excluded Class 6 students from this, under which students currently studying in Class 6 had to study three languages and appear for the 10th board exam. Thus, for the students currently studying in 6th standard, when they reach 10th standard, the 10th board exam will be conducted under the three language policy for the first time.
An application was filed in the Supreme Court regarding this. Earlier, while hearing the petition, the Supreme Court had expressed concern about introducing a new language framework for students. In this context, it was suggested to the Supreme Court that it should be started gradually (soft launch) from 2027. In this series, in a recent decision, the Supreme Court has exempted students currently studying in the 6th standard from the three language policy. Although he may continue to study three languages, he will not have to appear in the Class 10 board examination in the subject i.e. three languages, and will not be prevented from proceeding to the next class because of that.
