India’s Under-19 cricket setup has produced another impressive batting performance, with young opener Lakshya Raichandani scoring a second double century in Youth Test cricket. His latest innings came against Australia Under-19 in Rajkot.

Raichandani remained unbeaten on 210 runs from 256 balls, helping India Under-19 reach 430 for eight by the end of the second day. His innings put India in a commanding position after Australia were dismissed for 217 in their first innings.

Lakshya Raichandani Hits 210 Against Australia U19

The 17-year-old batter showed patience during his long stay at the crease. Rather than relying only on attacking strokes, Raichandani built his innings steadily and continued batting after reaching his century.

He eventually crossed the 200-run mark and finished the day unbeaten on 210. His knock also included a crucial unbeaten partnership with Mohit Ulva, who contributed 58 runs from 56 balls.

India’s total of 430/8 gave the hosts a 213-run first-innings lead at the close of play. Australia’s first innings had ended at 217, leaving India firmly in control of the Youth Test.

Second Double Century in Youth Test Cricket

The Rajkot innings is particularly significant because it is Raichandani’s second double century in Youth Test cricket in 2026. Earlier this year, he scored 207 runs against Sri Lanka Under-19, establishing himself as a consistent performer in the longer format.

His recent run of form has also included a century against Australia in the Youth ODI series. Raichandani scored an unbeaten 110 from 106 balls in the third ODI at Rajkot, guiding India to a six-wicket victory.

Raichandani Adds Depth to India U19 Batting

Raichandani was selected as captain for India Under-19’s three-match ODI series against Australia, while he was named vice-captain for the multi-day fixtures. The squad was announced by the BCCI ahead of Australia’s 2026 tour of India.

His performances now add another name to India’s growing group of promising young batters. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has already attracted considerable attention after his record-breaking performances at the 2026 Under-19 World Cup, including a 175-run innings in the final.

For Raichandani, however, the latest double century provides a strong reminder of his ability to build big innings in multi-day cricket. With the Australia U19 series continuing, his performance will be closely watched by Indian cricket followers.
