The Excise Department has officially declared a dry day in the capital Delhi today. It means that alcohol will not be sold in any area of Delhi today. The government has taken this decision so that people can observe the Ravan Dahan program peacefully. There should not be any commotion in congested areas. Alcohol will not be available in these areas of UP
In Uttar Pradesh the rules are applied slightly differently. Along with Dussehra, idols of Durga will be immersed in various places in UP. In view of which, the local district administration has given strict instructions to keep the liquor shops closed. Shops especially on those routes will be completely closed from where the discharge procession is going to take off. Apart from this, Legislative Council elections are also to be held in some districts of UP. The sale of alcohol has also been banned in these places for security reasons. The main focus of the administration is on sensitive areas so that no untoward incident takes place. However, there are several states in the country where Dussehra has not been declared a dry day under local excise rules. Liquor shops are generally open in these states.
Where can you get alcohol on a dry day?
