Why are Reliance shares falling?
Shares of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) are under a lot of pressure ahead of the launch of Jio Platforms IPO. Due to which the existing shareholders of Reliance Industries are facing many problems. On the other hand, market experts have a slightly different thinking. He believes that this is an opportunity to invest in shares of Reliance Industries. The price per share of Jio Platforms IPO is Rs. 1,065 to Rs. 1,119 is close to the price band. After which it is also believed that when the value of the company is unlocked then the shareholders of Reliance will also benefit from it. However, there is no guarantee that Jio platform shares will be distributed to all the shareholders of RIL.
Apart from this ‘value-unlocking’ factor, experts believe that the Jio platform IPO is an important factor, though not entirely negative. News of a major public offering usually serves to create momentum, but market mood has cooled as recent reports peg the valuation at around $114 billion (Rs 10.3 lakh crore). That is lower than the previous estimate of $130 billion to $170 billion. He said that shares of Reliance Rs. 1,200 level is facing hurdles. If this level is broken, the share price of Reliance will be Rs. Expect to reach around 1,265.
Can Jio platform boost stocks?
Will Jio platform’s IPO breathe new life into Reliance shares? On this, Seema Srivastava, senior research analyst at SMC Global Securities, said in a Mint report that Jio Platform’s IPO is primarily designed as a new capital issue of around 2.9 per cent equity (post-IPO), and not as a large-scale ‘offer-for-sale’ (OFS). This means that RIL itself is not taking cash directly by selling its stake, although it will retain a controlling stake of 64.5 percent, while Jio will use the money to pay down debt and expand.
Experts at SMC Global Securities said arbitrage traders and institutional desks tend to underestimate holding company valuations unless the market determines firm value from listing price bands and post-listing trading performance. So, despite lower-than-expected IPO valuation guidance and weak energy metrics causing short-term selling pressure, this IPO is a strategic and structurally positive move to unlock long-term value once demand in the primary market stabilizes.
