NEET UG 2027: The Ministry of Education has intensified preparations for conducting the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2027. Final decision after Nandan Nilekani Committee report

According to a report by news agency PTI, serious consideration is being given to conducting NEET UG 2027 in CBT mode, but the final decision will be taken only after receiving the report of the task force headed by Nandan Nilekani. This task force has been formed for comprehensive reforms in India’s public examination system.

Other exams will be online after preparing the infrastructure strategy

Actually, till now NEET UG is conducted in pen-paper mode. While National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts some other exams including JEE Main and CUET in CBT mode. PTI quoted sources as saying that the plan is to conduct all entrance exams through online mode once the infrastructure strategy is ready.

Strategies are being considered under different models

A senior education ministry official told PTI on condition of anonymity that a structured strategy is being drawn up to reduce geographical variation in the availability of exam centres, standardize exam-grade standards at the central level and convert pen-and-paper exams to CBT. This strategy is being actively considered under a multi-source model. The move comes amid ongoing comprehensive reforms in the NTA. NTA is an autonomous organization that conducts NEET-UG and other examinations for admission to higher educational institutions.
