Hailing from Barwa, a small village in Haryana, Jaya Sharma persevered in studies and competitive exams until becoming an IPS officer. Jaya first cleared the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) exam and became a DSP. After this he continued his preparation for UPSC Civil Services exam along with the job. After failing in the first attempt, he took the exam again and scored an AIR 248 in UPSC CSE 2023. Jaya was allotted IPS service and became a 2024 batch IPS officer. Let’s know about them.

Studied from IIT Delhi

Jaya Sharma completed her schooling from Vidya Devi Jindal School, Hisar. After this he did his graduation from Delhi University. For further studies he went to IIT Delhi and got his post graduate degree from here. During her studies, Jaya also worked on a research project related to the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).

Become a DSP after passing HPSC

Before becoming an IPS, Jaya Sharma appeared for the Haryana Public Service Commission exam. In this she secured eighth rank and was selected for the post of DSP in Haryana Police. Even while working as a trainee DSP, he continued to prepare for his bigger goal. It was not easy for him to prepare for UPSC along with the job responsibilities, but he did not give up on his preparation.

The first attempt was unsuccessful

Jaya Sharma appeared in the UPSC Civil Services Exam for the first time, but did not get the desired result. Despite this, he saw it as an opportunity to improve his preparation. He started his exam preparation again and worked on his strategy.

Achieved AIR 248 in second attempt

After constant hard work, Jaya cracked UPSC CSE 2023. She got All India Rank 248 and got selected for IPS. With this she became an IPS officer of 2024 batch. Her father Pramod Sharma is a DFSC in the Food and Civil Supplies Department, while her mother Neetu Sharma is a homemaker. Jaya’s journey shows that failure in exams is not the final destination.
