NCERT has launched a new online diploma program for teachers teaching science from classes 6 to 8. In this 40 week course, teachers will be taught techniques to teach science subjects easily and effectively. In this, the focus will be on new teaching methods, study materials, lesson plans and classroom strategies. Online application process for the course will start from 12 October 2026 and candidates can register till 12 November 2026. Interested teachers can apply after fulfilling the prescribed eligibility. The course will start from 16 November 2026 and will run till 31 August 2027.

The online diploma will be of 40 weeks duration

This program of NCERT deals with the study of science at intermediate level. It aims to strengthen the subject matter understanding and teaching ability of teachers teaching science to class 6 to 8 students. In the course, teachers will be introduced to various teaching techniques and effective classroom strategies.

You can apply till 12th November

Online applications for diploma courses will start from 12 October 2026. Candidates can register till 12 November 2026. The course will start from 16 November 2026 and will run till 31 August 2027. A fee of 2,000 rupees has to be paid for this.

Who can apply?

Candidates with B.Sc degree can apply for this program. Acting teachers teaching science in classes 6 to 8 are also eligible. Apart from this candidates with diploma or degree in education and prospective teachers who are pursuing education related courses can apply. Other interested people related to science education can also participate. However, this course is not a qualification for teacher recruitment. According to NCERT, this course is not like any other compulsory teacher qualification and no relaxation will be given in any qualification related to appointment on that basis.

40 modules and a final exam

The course will have a total of 40 modules. An objective test will be conducted after each module. Each test will be made available online for a period of 15 days. Candidates who complete all the modules and tests will be able to appear in the final examination. The information regarding the exam date will be announced later. Teachers who complete the course will be awarded an e-Certificate in Teaching of Science at Middle Stage by NCERT.
