A horrific incident took place at a height of 34,000 feet from the ground in a flydubai flight, which shocked the whole world. The flight’s chief pilot, Captain Smit Machar, displayed presence of mind and extraordinary bravery while battling death inside the cockpit. Although he himself was seriously injured, he saved the lives of 174 passengers. Captain Machar himself told about this shocking incident during a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Captain Machar said the flight was completely normal. Then his Omani co-pilot present in the cockpit expressed his desire to offer Namaz. Being a colleague and religiously respected, Captain Smit did not look back and kept looking forward. But a few minutes later, without warning, the co-pilot hit him forcefully on the back of the head with an axe.
‘A guy sitting in my cockpit attacked me’
Captain Machar also stated that initially he thought the plane had suffered some major damage. He said, “But the seizures continued after that. Then I realized it wasn’t the flight, it was the other person in the cockpit with me.”
The pilot stated that he tried to stop the co-pilot, but everything seemed unclear to him. He also opened the cockpit door after the initial attack, but the attacker closed it, causing him to fall to the ground.
‘I had the guts to fight the last fight’
The pilot recalled that he felt the plane descend rapidly and the passengers screaming in panic. “I had the courage left to fight this last battle. If I hadn’t, I would have died. That’s when I gathered all my strength and courage, walked towards the door and opened it and the good thing was that the people were ready to take revenge, they took control and you know the rest, sir.”
