Tensions between the US and Iran continue. Meanwhile, the statement of US President Donald Trump has come out. He says that millions of barrels of oil have passed through the Strait of Hormuz in the past few days. Along with this, he made a big claim about Iran’s economy. He says that Iran’s economy has been completely destroyed and inflation has also reached almost 300 percent. Along with this he also said that Iran’s oil minister resigned because the country has no economy left and no oil left.
Speaking to reporters outside the White House on Tuesday (October 6), President Donald Trump said that ‘Iran is in very bad shape’, that ‘their economy has collapsed’ ‘inflation is almost 300 per cent’ and that their oil minister had just resigned. He said, ‘We have no economy, we have no oil, we have nothing’.

Movement of millions of barrels of oil from Hormuz
Trump also said that millions of barrels of oil have passed through the Strait of Hormuz. He said oil flows from Hormuz are equivalent to, and sometimes even higher than, pre-conflict levels in West Asia. He said, ‘Millions of barrels of oil have been transported through the Strait of Hormuz in the last few days. We are achieving it at levels that are now equal to pre-war levels, and sometimes even higher. And we have done very well.
Oil exports have also increased in September
The US president’s statement came amid reports that oil exports from the Gulf have improved significantly in recent days despite increasing attacks on ships around the Strait of Hormuz. Al Jazeera cited maritime intelligence company Kepler as saying that in September oil flows from Gulf countries excluding Iran rose to 81 percent of pre-war levels. Crude oil exports from the broader Middle East region remained above pre-war levels for 14 days in September.
Iran’s oil minister resigns
Trump’s comments about Iran’s oil minister Iran’s state media Press TV reported that Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad had resigned from his post and Hamid Bouvard, CEO of the state-owned National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), had been appointed to lead the ministry until a new minister is approved by parliament.
According to a decree published by Iran’s presidential office on Sunday, President Masoud Pezheshkian accepted Paknejad’s resignation and appointed Bouvard as acting oil minister.
The reason for the resignation is not clear
No reason was given for Paknejad’s resignation. However, Press TV reported that earlier local media reports indicated that he may have resigned due to differences with Iran’s president.
Media reports have pointed to Paknejad’s increasing interference in PGPIC, Iran’s largest petrochemical company, while some reports say Pezeshkian was dissatisfied with the way Paknejad managed the trustees. Trustee is a network of oil traders. The trustees are accused of not repatriating more than $10 billion worth of Iran’s oil exports.
