MINI India has started pre-launch bookings for the MINI Cooper Oxford Edition in India. This special edition will be sold in limited numbers. The biggest feature of the car is its British style. From the exterior to the cabin, special design elements related to the Union Jack i.e. the British flag have been given. The company has introduced it at the Oxford plant to celebrate 25 years of MINI’s British heritage and modern MINI production.

This special edition is based on the MINI 3-door hatchback with petrol engine. It is offered in two versions the Cooper C and the more powerful Cooper S. However, the company has not made any changes to its mechanical setup. That is, in this edition, special emphasis has been given on design and styling.

What’s so special about the Mini Cooper Oxford Edition?

Several distinctive design elements have been incorporated to differentiate this car from the usual MINI Cooper. The Union Jack graphic on its white contrast roof is done in a modern style. Apart from this, red and white racing stripes have been given on the body of the car, which enhances its sporty look.

The car gets 18-inch two-tone slide spoke alloy wheels with white mirror caps. Special details related to the colors of the British flag are also done on their hubs and valve-caps. Color options also include Indigo Sunset Blue. Through these changes, the company has tried to give the car a combination of classic British identity and modern style.

A touch of British theme will be seen in the cabin as well

The distinctive style of the MINI Cooper Oxford Edition is not limited to the exterior. Its cabin has also received several minor changes. A textured Union Jack motif is seen on the underside of the steering wheel. The driver’s side floor mat features a circular British flag design, while the passenger side mat features a checkered flag motif, reminiscent of MINI’s rally racing history.

Apart from this Oxford Edition badging and special design can be seen on the door sills. The company is also offering a matching Oxford Capsule collection with this car. This includes bags, clothes and other accessories that match the theme.

204hp engine and acceleration to 100 in 6.6 seconds

Talking about performance, the Oxford Edition has the same mechanical setup as the standard MINI 3-door model. Its Cooper S version has a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, which generates 204hp of power and 300Nm of torque. According to the company, this car can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.6 seconds.

Overall, the MINI Cooper Oxford Edition is targeted at customers who want distinctive design and British style in a compact premium car. Its pre-launch bookings have started, but pricing and delivery details are awaited.
