Renault Duster Strong Hybrid Price
- Evolution Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160: Rs. 16.99 lakhs
- Techno Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160: Rs. 18.99 lakhs
- Emotion Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160: Rs. 19.49 lakhs
The launch of the new Duster is an important part of Renault’s plan to promote electric and hybrid vehicles in India. The company’s target is to introduce an SUV that can deliver good mileage along with strong performance.
Two electric motors will be available along with the petrol engine
The Renault Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 has a 1.8-litre petrol engine with two electric motors and a 1.4 kWh battery pack. This system together gives a power of 160 PS. Its special feature is that it does not require a separate charging station or plug to charge it.
Unlike plug-in hybrid cars, the battery charges itself while driving. The battery is charged using the energy generated during braking and the energy obtained during driving. Along with this, the driver gets the benefit of both electric and petrol technology.
Claimed mileage of 29 kmpl
Renault claims that the new Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 returns a mileage of 29 kmpl as per ARAI. According to the company, under the right conditions, up to 80% of city travel can be done in electric mode only. This can help reduce petrol consumption.
It also has a multi-mode automatic transmission inspired by Formula 1. It has two electric gears and four petrol gears. With their help, the system can create 15 different combinations according to driving conditions, so that the balance between performance and mileage is maintained as needed.
The company has also said that the new hybrid technology can save up to 29% fuel compared to diesel cars of the same range. However, actual mileage and savings will depend on driving style and road conditions.
The new Duster is also strong in features
The new Renault Duster retains the strong SUV styling. Its ground clearance is 212 mm. Apart from this, features like panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, ventilated front seats and dual-zone climate control have been provided. The SUV also gets a 10.1-inch OpenR Link infotainment system. Its cabin has been introduced with a new upholstery option. The top variant Emotion gets a Dune Brown leatherette finish.
Renault is offering this SUV as an option for customers who are looking to buy a diesel SUV in the budget of Rs 17 lakh to Rs 20 lakh. With better mileage, 160 PS power and hybrid technology without external charging, the company wants to offer a new alternative between petrol SUVs and fully electric cars.
