Leylah Fernandez is in action against Aliaksandra Sasnovich at the 2026 Ningbo Open, with a place in the quarterfinals on the line. The second-round match is part of the WTA 500 tournament in Ningbo, China, as the Canadian continues her campaign on outdoor hard courts.
Sky Sports has listed the match for live coverage on October 21, giving tennis fans in the UK an option to follow the contest through its streaming service. The broadcaster says viewers need a subscription to watch live coverage.
Leylah Fernandez Looks to Build on Comeback Win
Fernandez enters the match after producing an impressive comeback against seventh seed Elise Mertens in the opening round. She recovered from losing the first set to win 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 in a match that lasted nearly three hours.
The victory gave Fernandez an important boost at the Ningbo Open, particularly after a demanding stretch of tournaments in Asia. Her ability to recover under pressure will be important as she faces another opponent looking to extend a strong run.
Ranked 30th in the available tournament listings, Fernandez has the experience and baseline consistency to challenge opponents on hard courts. She will aim to use her left-handed game to create difficult angles and put pressure on Sasnovich’s service games.
Aliaksandra Sasnovich Advances After Beating Daria Kasatkina
Sasnovich reached the second round with a straight-sets victory over Daria Kasatkina, winning 6-4, 6-2. The Belarusian qualifier controlled the match well enough to secure her place in the last 16 without needing a deciding set.
Currently listed at No. 122 in the rankings, Sasnovich has already played qualifying matches in Ningbo, giving her additional time to adjust to the court conditions. Her recent results suggest she should not be underestimated despite the ranking difference.
The matchup presents a test for Fernandez, who will need to maintain her intensity and avoid giving Sasnovich easy opportunities to dictate rallies.
