Carlsberg took the lead in the race
Danish beer company Carlsberg is leading the race for an IPO. The company has submitted its updated draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) to market regulator Sebi on 28 October. The company’s CFO Ulrika Fern confirmed this during the third quarter results. He said the company is now starting meetings with potential investors.
Carlsberg sells famous brands like Tuborg, Carlsberg Elephant, Cronenberg 1664 Blanc in India. However, the company has not yet specified the date or size of the IPO.
Pernod Ricard waits for the green signal from the board
Famous French liquor company Pernod Ricard is also planning to list its Indian business on the stock market. The company has major brands like Absolut, Jameson, Chivas Regal, Ballantine’s. The company’s sales in India jumped by 19 percent during the September quarter.
Mauve Croizat, the company’s executive vice president, said the board has directed the IPO preparations to continue. The company is currently awaiting final approval from its board. The process of listing will be taken forward as soon as the approval of the board is received.
Coca-Cola will list the bottling business
American giant Coca-Cola is also looking for a way to float its Indian bottling business. For this the company is thinking of bringing an IPO of Hindustan Coca-Cola Holdings (HCCH). The company’s CFO John Murphy himself confirmed this.
In June this year, the company informed that initial preparations for possible listing on BSE and NSE have begun. Last year, the Jubilant Bharatiya Group also bought a 40 percent stake in Hindustan Coca-Cola Holdings. The date of this IPO is yet to be decided.
How big is the Indian market for foreign companies?
India is a huge market for these three foreign companies. India has become the fifth largest market in the world for Coca-Cola. At the same time, India is the second largest market in the world for Pernod Ricard after the US. Pernod Ricard in India in FY 2024-25 Rs. 27,445.80 crore recorded bumper sales.
Carlsberg’s revenue, on the other hand, has seen a slight decline. In the financial year 2025-26, the company’s revenue fell by 2.2 percent to Rs. 8,708.8 crores. The proposed IPO will help these foreign companies to raise fresh funds from the Indian market. Apart from this, they will also get an opportunity to reveal the true value of their Indian business. However, the listing of these three companies in the market will depend on the market conditions apart from the final approval.
