EPFO: Crores of employed people will now find it easier than ever to work related to their PF accounts. The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) is gearing up to launch two very special initiatives for the convenience of its crores of members. Under the first initiative, people will now be able to access PF related services through WhatsApp only. Another major initiative relates to old accounts that have been closed for a long time. If there is a balance of up to 1000 rupees in such inactive accounts, the same will be automatically settled.
The 74th Foundation Day of the organization is being celebrated on Sunday, 1 November 2026 in New Delhi. According to information released by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Union Minister of Labor and Employment Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya will inaugurate this special program. Both these new features are set to roll out to crores of PF members on this platform. The whole focus of the organization is to ensure that members have easy access to PF facilities. Apart from this, the settlement of small and long closed accounts can also be completed without any difficulty.
Small PF accounts will be settled automatically
Often, after changing jobs, people forget the small amount deposited in their old PF account or do not withdraw it due to lengthy process. As per the current rules, to withdraw money from such closed accounts, members have to go through the entire settlement process separately.
EPFO’s new initiative will provide a major relief to eligible members who have small amounts of up to Rs 1000 in their accounts which have been closed for a long time. Now these accounts will be automatically settled. The direct aim of this new system is to simplify the process. After its implementation, eligible members will not have to go through any lengthy paper process to withdraw their petty cash or close their account. However, the PIB press release has not yet specified what the full eligibility conditions for this facility will be. Also, the information about the date from which this work of automatic settlement will start has not been announced yet.

The way to PF will be easy through WhatsApp
The organization is going to take help of WhatsApp to improve communication with its members in the digital age. After the launch of this facility, PF account holders will get a new and easy way to avail their facilities. With this, EPFO services will become much more convenient than before.
Members will have a direct option in the form of WhatsApp to get PF related information.
