This is an important update for candidates preparing for the joint CSIR-UGC NET December 2026. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has extended the last date to apply online for this exam. Eligible candidates can apply now till 9 November 2026. Earlier, the last date for filling the form was fixed on 5th November.
Now candidates can visit the official website csirnet.nta.nic.in and deposit the registration and application fee. The exam will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode in December.
When to fill form without late fee?
As per the information released by NTA, candidates can apply now till 11:50 PM on 9 November 2026. During this period, candidates will not have to pay any additional late fee. Earlier last date to apply was 5th November.

How much application fee has to be paid?
- General Range: Rs. 1,150
- EWS and OBC-NCL: Rs. 600
- SC, ST, PwD and Third Gender: Rs. 325
When will the exam be held?
The CSIR-UGC NET December 2026 exam will be conducted on December 19, 22 and 27. The exam will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. It will be organized in two shifts.
Examination will be conducted in five subjects
This exam will be conducted in five subjects. These include chemical sciences, earth, atmospheric, oceanic and planetary sciences, life sciences and biotechnology, mathematical sciences and physical sciences. This time, Life Science and Biotechnology have been included as integrated subjects from December 2026 session. Along with this, candidates from both these fields will be able to appear for the examination under integrated subject.
