101 Recommendations and role of Nandan Nilekani Committee

Radhakrishnan Committee has given 101 recommendations regarding NTA and examination reforms. What will be the role of the Nandan Nilekani Committee in such a scenario and how will it bring about change beyond the 101 recommendations, are the questions being debated these days. The question becomes more serious when the 101 recommendations have not yet been properly implemented. However, many experts see the decision to appoint Nandan Nilekani as the chairman of the committee as an answer to these questions as well. Many experts believe that it is Nandan Nilekani’s responsibility to present a roadmap to ensure the actual implementation of the recommendations given by the Radhakrishnan Committee. Along with this, Nandan Nilekani also has the responsibility of creating the examination system for the next 50 years.

101 Recommendations…What changes can Nandan Nilekani Committee bring in NTA Exam System?

The Radhakrishnan Committee has recommended creating a digital examination system. In case of small number of candidates like JEE, the exam is currently conducted in digital i.e. CBT, but for big exam like NEET, there is no infrastructure yet. In such a situation, one option is to develop infra for a digital examination system. So another option is to develop technologies. It is believed that Nandan Nilekani, the father of Aadhaar card in India, could develop a technique through which secure digital entrance exams can be conducted even with less infrastructure. According to the Nilekani Committee’s 101 recommendations, another major responsibility is to develop technology for digital paper printing. Along with this, work like changing the exam pattern will also have to be done by the Nilekani Committee.
