One ticket, one original ID! Now it is not enough just to show the ticket in the train. Railways is also going to strictly check the documents of the passengers. If you are going to travel by train, this news is very important for you.

A special ticket checking campaign will be conducted in Central Railway from October 1 to October 31. Meanwhile, the original ID of the passengers will also be checked along with the ticket. Notably, documents of passengers who have booked tickets under concession quota, e-pass or other concessional facilities will also be checked. Railways wants to ensure that these facilities are used only by genuine passengers.

The campaign aims to prevent fake tickets, wrongful concessions and loss of revenue to the railways. In such a case, if you are going to travel by train, carry your original ID along with the ticket and the necessary documents related to the concession. Especially when you have taken tickets under special quota or pass.

ID is required for passengers traveling on one ticket

If multiple passengers are traveling on the same ticket, at least one person in the group must have a valid ID proof. This rule will apply to both normal tickets and tickets booked under any discount. If the required ID is not shown while checking the ticket, all passengers traveling on that ticket will be deemed to have traveled without a valid ticket. In such cases, fines may also be levied on passengers.

Passengers with exemption or special quota will also be checked by ID. That is, merely showing a ticket is not enough; If necessary, it will also be checked whether the passenger is eligible for that discount or quota.

ID is also required for e-pass and PTO people

Railway employees and their families often travel free or at reduced fares through e-pass or Privilege Ticket Order (PTO). ID related rules have also been tightened for such passengers.

According to Central Railway, passengers traveling on e-pass or PTO will have to carry their original ID proof throughout the journey. Before boarding the train, it will also be necessary to properly convert the e-pass or PTO to Authority to Travel. If this process is not completed, the passenger may face fines or other actions such as traveling without a valid ticket.

Tickets without reservation are also under scrutiny

Railway checks will not be limited to reservations or discounted tickets. Tickets without reservation will also be checked. If any ticket is in doubt, railway employees can check on the spot using TTE app. Railways aims to prevent counterfeit tickets, false concessions and misuse of passes. Along with this, one of its objectives is to reduce the loss of revenue to the railways.

What should passengers do?

Before October 1, travelers should keep a few things in mind. Always carry your valid and original ID proof while travelling. Understand the discounts available on your ticket and the conditions attached to them. If you are traveling by any pass or concession, complete the necessary paperwork before boarding the train.

Ticket and ID checks can be stricter during October, so it’s better to have all the necessary documents with you before travelling.
