Although under American law it has been said that 100 percent penalty will be imposed against countries that buy oil from Russia, it does not seem to have any effect on India. India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has made such an announcement regarding Russian oil, which has surprised everyone from the Middle East to America. Let us tell you that after the Ukraine war, the importance of Russian oil in the Indian economy has increased a lot. At one time, the share of Russian oil in the Indian basket was not even 2 percent, which has now increased to 50 percent. Let us also tell you what the Foreign Minister of India said?

Relations with Russia will be preserved

India’s dependence on Russia for crude oil and its efforts to help end the Ukraine war were specifically discussed at the External Affairs Ministry’s advisory committee meeting. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar told MPs that despite external pressure, New Delhi is committed to maintaining its ties with Moscow. The meeting discussed India-Russia relations in the context of the Ukraine conflict, energy supply disruptions in West Asia and US-proposed tariffs on countries that import Russian oil.

Europe is also taking Russian oil

The meeting discussed that about 52 percent of India’s crude oil is imported from Russia, while the war has affected traditional suppliers in West Asia. Members were also told that despite the ongoing conflict, European countries continue to import a share of their energy needs from Russia. The discussion also discussed India’s efforts to help end the Ukraine conflict. India believes that dialogue and diplomacy is the only way forward. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken to both Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Ukrainian leadership.
