Royal Enfield has now closed bookings for the new Himalayan 440. The company has received so many orders for this bike that almost 6 months of stock has already been booked. The bike was launched this month at the first Himalayan base camp in Ladakh. After the launch, the Himalayan 440 received a great response from the public. The number of bookings has exceeded the company’s initial estimates. It is for this reason that Royal Enfield has stopped taking new orders for now. Now the company will focus on fulfilling the orders already received. Also the production of Himalayan 440 will be gradually increased. Bookings will be resumed when the company has sufficient capacity to fulfill new orders.
What’s so special about the Himalayan 440?
Following the feedback from the riders, Royal Enfield has re-introduced the Himalayan 440. It retains many of the features of the old Himalayan 411. This bike now has a bigger engine of 443 cc. Along with this, a better setup and new hardware are also available for touring. However, despite increasing the engine and features, the company has kept the size and seating of the bike in such a way that it is not too difficult to ride and handle.
The 443cc engine delivers plenty of power
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 has a 443cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. This engine produces 25.4bhp of power at 6,250rpm and 34Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. This engine has a bore of 81mm and a stroke of 86mm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and wet multi-plate clutch.
This bike has a 15 liter fuel tank. It has a 6-speed gearbox, which means it has one more gear than the old Himalayan 411. This can help the bike handle during long distance rides.
When will the booking resume?
Royal Enfield will first ramp up production of the Himalayan 440. First priority will be given to fulfill orders of existing customers. New orders will commence only when the company has additional production capacity available. This means that currently new customers will not be able to book the Himalayan 440 and will have to wait for the company’s next announcement.
