Porsche has launched the electric version of its full-size luxury SUV Cayenne in India. This is Porsche’s first electric SUV and will be sold alongside the ICE model. Interestingly, Porsche has not discontinued the petrol Cayenne. According to the company, the petrol-engined Cayenne will also be available for sale for several years to come. That means you will have the option to choose both petrol and electric models.

Porsche’s E-Performance powertrain is offered in the Cayenne Electric. It has electric motors on both the front and rear axles and comes with a 113kWh performance battery. Range up to 642km on a single charge
The Cayenne Electric has a 113kWh battery. According to the company, the standard variant can run up to 642km on a full charge as per the WLTP certification. Talking about charging, the SUV supports DC fast charging up to 390kW. Under ideal conditions, charging the battery from 10 to 80 percent can take about 16 minutes. The company claims that with maximum DC charging power, just 10 minutes of charging can provide a range of 290 to 324km.
For AC charging, it features an onboard charger of up to 22kW. With the help of a compatible wallbox, the battery can be fully charged in about 5.75 hours. The Cayenne Electric is Porsche’s first model in India to feature an optional 11kW wireless inductive charging system.
Similar styling to the Cayenne in design
The design of the Cayenne Electric is similar to the current Cayenne, but the front end has undergone some changes. It features a closed grille with Porsche’s four-point DRL design, active aerodynamic vents and matrix LED headlights. Talking about its dimensions, the Electric Cayenne measures 4,985mm in length, 1,980mm in width and 1,674mm in height. Its wheelbase is 3,023mm. It is slightly longer than the petrol Cayenne.
Boot space up to 1,588 litres
Porsche has tried to make the Electric Cayenne not only fast but also practical for everyday use. It has a trunk of 90 liters in the front. 781 liters of boot space has been provided at the rear. When the rear power seats are folded, this space increases to 1,588 liters. With a performance battery, the Cayenne Electric can tow up to 3,000 kg. At the same time, installing the Offroad Package increases its towing capacity to 3,500 kg.
Big screen and lots of technologies available inside
For the first time in India, Porsche has a curved 14.5-inch infotainment touchscreen inside. A fully digital instrument cluster is available with this. If customers want, they can also opt for a 14.9-inch passenger display and an augmented reality head-up display.
Standard features include 8-way electrically adjustable front seats, which can be upgraded to 18-way. Apart from this, 4-zone automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, sliding panoramic roof and up to 25W wireless smartphone charging are also available.
Safety and driving assistance features
Cayenne Electric comes with park assist, lane change assist, intersection assist, warn and brake assist, swerve and turn assist and speed limit assist with 2D surround view. It also offers comfort access with ultra-wideband technology. This provides the facility to unlock and lock the car without a key. Apart from this, the facility of opening the tailgate by gesture has also been provided.
This will rival electric SUVs
In India, it will compete with premium electric SUVs like Porsche Cayenne Electric, Audi Q8 e-tron, BMW iX and Lotus Eletre. That means, with the Cayenne Electric, Porsche has introduced its popular SUV with an electric powertrain, but kept the petrol version as well. Along with this, customers will have both petrol and electric options as per their needs.
