Death of Nana Patekar: The death of Nana Patekar, one of the most powerful actors of Indian cinema, has left the entire film industry in mourning. Nana Patekar, who won the hearts of audiences with his indomitable voice, dialogue delivery and effortless acting, has passed away at the age of 75. Doctors at a Goa hospital tried for 45 minutes
Nana Patekar was present at his home in Dona Pavla, Goa. He was suddenly found unconscious at home during the night. After this, around 3.30 pm, he was immediately rushed to Dona Pavlani Manipal Hospital. However, he stopped breathing before reaching the hospital. Head of the oncology department of the hospital Dr. Shekhar Salkar informed that Nana Patekar died due to acute cardiac arrest. Doctors tried everything to save him. Continuous CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) was administered for about 45 minutes, but there was no movement in his body. After this the doctors declared him dead. As soon as this sad news came to light, all the stars of the cinema world were shocked.
Sometimes earning 35 rupees, sometimes empire of crores
Nana Patekar was born on 1 January 1951 in Raigad district of Maharashtra. Although today he is the owner of crores of rupees, his early life was full of struggles. Nana was well educated and graduated in Arts. Before entering films, he worked in part-time jobs where he earned only Rs 35 per day. During that period of poverty, he also worked painting zebra crossings on roads and making film posters. But he never lost heart. According to Rapturemuse, Nana Patekar has left behind a net worth of around Rs 200 crore based on his hard work. Despite owning crores of rupees, his lifestyle was very ordinary. He always stayed away from the limelight and donated a large portion of his earnings to NGOs for social causes.
When a record amount of Rs 1 crore was demanded for a film
Nana Patekar is counted among the few artists who have never compromised on their work and principles. Usually he used to charge around 2 to 3 crore rupees for a film. According to actor Paresh Rawal, Nana Patekar became the first character actor in Hindi cinema to demand Rs 1 crore for a film and get that fee. Coming to recent projects, he has received a fee of around Rs 4 crore for the film ‘O Romeo’ (2026). While for the film ‘The Vaccine War’ he took only 20 percent of his fixed fee. This shows that he valued a good story more than money.

Nana Patekar started his acting journey in the year 1978 with the film ‘Gaman’. After this, the film ‘Ankush’ released in 1986 gave him real recognition. Nana left an indelible mark in Hindi as well as Marathi cinema. Be it the role of a gangster in ‘Parinda’, the action avatar of ‘Prahar’, ‘Tiranga’ and ‘Krantiveer’ or films like ‘Khamoshi’, ‘Welcome’, ‘Ab Tak Chappan’, ‘Ghulam-e-Mustapha’, ‘Natasamrat’, ‘Shwasoddhar’, ‘Sahjard Jeevan’. in every character.
