HDFC Bank on Wednesday appointed VN Srivatsan as its Chief Compliance Officer for a three-year tenure. He will join the bank on January 4, 2027, according to an exchange filing. The appointment was approved by the bank’s board at its meeting on Wednesday based on the recommendations of the Audit Committee and the Governance, Nomination and Remuneration Committee. HDFC Bank said Srivatsan’s three-year tenure will begin from the date of his joining.
Rakesh Kumar Rajput, who has been serving as Chief Compliance Officer of HDFC Bank since October 1, 2023, will complete his three-year tenure at the end of business hours on September 30, 2026. The bank said that until Srivatsan joins, Venkateswaran L, who is currently head of compliance – credit, asset product and regulatory, will hold the key responsibilities.
Who is VN Srivatsan?
Srivatsan currently works as Head Compliance: Overseas Banking and Subsidiaries and Data Privacy Officer at ICICI Bank. He has a total of approximately 34 years of professional experience, including approximately 25 years in the Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) sector and approximately 10 years of direct experience in compliance and regulatory oversight.
He previously led retail banking compliance and regulatory oversight for over eight years. His responsibilities include regulatory compliance, regulatory inspections, development and implementation of compliance frameworks and policies, and working with senior management, audit committees, boards and regulators.
Srivatsan holds a Post Graduate in Business Administration from PSG College of Technology and a Bachelor of Technology from Sri Venkateswara University. HDFC Bank said the appointment is in accordance with the Reserve Bank of India (Commercial Banks – Compliance Function) Instructions, 2026. Srivatsan will join the bank as a full-time employee. Rajput, who is a full-time employee of HDFC Bank, has a B.Sc. holds a degree. (Hons.) degree, a certified associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers and holds an Advanced Diploma in Business Management.
