Additionally, the process of issuing temporary refunds to businesses facing ‘inverted duty structure’ (higher tax on raw materials and lower tax on finished products) will also be expedited. These measures were announced in the 2026-2027 budget.
Keep an eye on LPG cylinder prices
State-owned oil companies review LPG cylinder prices at the beginning of every month. Any change in commercial LPG cylinder rates may affect restaurants, hotels and other such businesses that depend on LPG for their daily functioning. However, till October 29, no official change in LPG prices has been announced for November 1, 2026. Customers are advised to check the latest rates issued by their LPG distributor before booking a refill.

Fasteg Annual Pass and New Local Pass Rules
Vehicle owners should be aware of two different arrangements regarding the FASTag Annual Pass. The current nationwide FASTag annual pass costs ₹3,075 for the financial year 2026-27 (increased from ₹3,000 to ₹3,075 on 1 April 2026). The pass is valid for eligible non-commercial vehicles for one year or up to 200 toll crossings (whichever is completed first). This facility is applicable at select National Highway and National Expressway toll plazas.
A separate ‘Local FASTag Pass’ (with concessional rate) will also be available from 1 November 2026. As per the new rules, people living within a 20 km radius of the National Highway Toll Plaza can purchase an annual local pass. The annual fee for toll plazas located outside municipal limits will be Rs 1,500, while the annual fee for toll plazas located within municipal limits will be Rs 3,000.
This local pass will only work at the specific toll plaza for which it is taken. It cannot be used at any other toll plaza. This pass will not be available at certain toll facilities, such as tolls with a ‘closed toll collection system’ or at toll plazas where an alternative route is available.
