If you are fond of Diet Coke, now you may have to shell out more money for it. Some Coca-Cola bottlers and nearby retailers in markets like Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Goa have increased the prices of Diet Coke. Due to constant supply shortages and a 30 per cent annual increase in the price of aluminum used to make cans, a 330 ml can costs Rs. 50 to Rs. 70 (all time high). This is happening while Diet Coke cans made in Coca-Cola’s own plants are still priced at Rs 50.

Prices also increased in July

An independent bottler of Coca-Cola said yes, we are now selling a 330 ml can of Diet Coke for Rs 70. The rise in price of aluminum cans cannot be tolerated for long. Earlier this year, due to the war in West Asia, the supply of aluminum cans was drastically reduced and prices increased. This also affected India’s largest selling sugar-free drink.

In July this year, the company introduced larger 330-ml cans of Diet Coke at Rs 50 instead of 300-ml cans (priced at Rs 40). A Coca-Cola spokesperson said in an emailed response to ET Report that as per Indian regulations, we advise all our trading partners to charge the price as per the MRP printed on the pack. He said that Diet Coke is available in the market at different prices according to the needs and occasions of different consumers.

Price on BlinkIt and Zepto Rs. 50

A senior beverage industry executive said the company has no control over prices set by independent bottlers and retailers. The decision to hike the prices comes as demand for zero-calorie drinks has doubled in the past year. On e-commerce platforms like BlinkIt and Zepto, a 330 ml can of Diet Coke still costs Rs. 50 are being sold. However, users from various cities are widely posting on social media platforms like Instagram and X that they are being charged Rs 70 for a 330 ml Diet Coke can at offline stores and supermarkets.
