The Lovely Professional University (LPU) today reiterated that its campus is safe and campus activities are continuing as normal. After normalcy was restored in the campus, a joint meeting was held between the university administration, civil and police administration and student representatives. Students present at the meeting unanimously said that the unrest was mainly caused by outsiders who tried to disturb the peace by illegally entering the campus. The matter is being investigated and appropriate action will be taken as per law.

For more than 25 years, the welfare of students, their aspirations and their future has been at the core of LPU’s institutional purpose. The University has consistently focused on providing quality education, growth opportunities and a strong foundation for a successful career and a meaningful life. Through continuous efforts, LPU has established itself as a leading institution and has contributed to the growth and transformation of higher education in Punjab.

Safety and welfare of students is the priority of LPU.

Today LPU brings together students from all over India and nearly 50 countries. Upholding their trust and ensuring the safety, dignity and welfare of every student is the highest responsibility of the University. The University has reviewed and confirmed the information circulating on social media, and strongly refutes the baseless and false claims. LPU has also appealed to students, parents and the wider community to rely only on verification and not believe in fake social media content.

Strict stance on loss of property

It is extremely unfortunate that amidst the tense situation some anti-social elements tried to take advantage of the situation, resulting in damage to university property and disruption. There is no place for such behavior in the LPU community. The University is confident that appropriate action will be taken against these outsiders as per law. Feedback from the wider LPU student community has been extremely positive. The students themselves came forward and refuted the false claims through their social media handles and interactions with the media. Their response reflects the maturity and responsibility of the community at large and the recognition that the University has always stood by their interests.

LPU appeals to the media

The LPU also appealed to the media to exercise due caution and refrain from publishing, broadcasting or promoting information, videos or claims that have not been independently verified. Responsible reporting is especially important where student safety and well-being are involved, as unverified content can cause unnecessary anxiety for students and their families. LPU is proud to serve students and their families for generations and to contribute to the larger good of education and society. What has been built during this journey is not limited to the university campus, but a relationship of trust between the institution, its students, parents, alumni and the wider community. LPU is committed to this objective and the University will continue to focus fully on the welfare and future of the students.
