There is relief news for students studying PG in Government Medical and Dental Colleges of Chhattisgarh. The state government has allowed to increase the monthly stipend of these students. The new rates will be effective from October 1, 2026. According to an order issued by the government on September 26, the stipend of PG medical students has increased by about 26 percent and that of PG dental students by about 59 percent. Under the new system, resident doctors who study in different years will get a higher monthly amount than before.
Government approval on DME proposal
A proposal to revise the stipend of students doing PG in government medical and dental colleges of Chhattisgarh was sent by the Directorate of Medical Education (DME). The government has approved the proposal and decided to implement the new rates. The revised stipend will be effective from October 1, 2026.
How much stipend will PG medical students get?
Under the new rule, the stipend of PG medical students has been increased for three years.
First Year: Per Month Rs. 67,500 to Rs. 85,050 increment up to 2nd year: Rs. 71,450 to Rs. 90,027 per month increment Third Year: Per month Rs. 74,600 to Rs. 93,996 up to Rs
In this way, medical PG students will now get more financial assistance every month than before.
New rates for PG Dental students too
The stipend of PG Dental students has also been revised.
- First Year: Per Month Rs. 53,500 to Rs. 85,050 up to Rs
- Second Year: Rs. 56,700 per month
- Third year: Rs. per month 59,200 to Rs. 93,996 do
Financial relief between study and duty
Along with studies, PG resident doctors also have to take care of patients and perform duties in hospitals. Many times they have to do long shifts and emergency duty. In such a situation, the increased stipend can help reduce their daily expenses and financial burden related to studies. This increase will provide financial relief to students especially in expenses like medical books, research and accommodation.
