What is Hindu College Admission Controversy?
Controversy is going on over the allegation of scam in admission in Hindu College. The whole matter is related to admission through quota for extra-curricular activities and sports. The Hindu College Staff Association says that more seats than the prescribed limit were allocated for admission under the Sports and Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) quota in Hindu College.
Actually, there are total 48 seats in Hindu College under ECA and Sports Quota. It is alleged that a maximum of 10 seats are earmarked under the quota for the course, but on the contrary, 17 seats have been allotted in commerce and 15 in political science under ECA and sports quota. According to information, the Hindu College administration is treating it as a matter beyond its jurisdiction. So the DU admission department is blaming the error in the admission algorithm for this.
Teachers protest
The Hindu College Staff Association is calling it a manipulation in admission. Along with this, the association has alleged irregularities in admissions, financial management, procurement process, appointments and administrative arrangements. The association has demanded the vice-chancellor of DU to investigate all the allegations.
Centralized admission process in DU
The admission process in DU is centralized, under which the DU Admission Cell invites applications for admission to UG and PG courses. After completion of the application process, colleges are allotted according to candidates’ choice based on CUET score. While CUET score is also required for admission through ECA and sports quota, the trial is the main basis for admission.
