What is the ‘mother of all bombs’?

The bomb’s official name is the GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB). In common parlance it is called the ‘mother of all bombs’. It is one of America’s largest non-nuclear bombs. Its special feature is that it is not a nuclear bomb, but its explosion can cause massive destruction in a very large area.

Its use may be aimed at inflicting heavy damage on large military bases and important targets. According to the report, this MOAB is about 20 feet long and can penetrate 200 feet of soil and 60 feet of concrete before detonating.
