Share Market Rally: A strong recovery has been seen in the Indian stock market today. Amid the ups and downs that have been going on for the past few days, Sensex and Nifty today gave a big relief to the investors. As soon as the market opened, a period of buying began that took the major indices close to new highs. The Sensex was seen trading with a gain of over 900 points while the Nifty too quickly touched 22900. The surge comes at a time when several important signals are coming from the global market.
Strong action in Sensex Nifty
If we look at the market data, the Sensex was trading at 73,653.46, a massive jump of 871.57 points or 1.20 percent at 10:09 am. Nifty 50 also showed tremendous growth. It gained 250.05 points or 1.11 percent to settle at 22,873.25. There was a period during trading when the Sensex jumped 930.67 points to 73,712.56. At the same time, the Nifty also surged 269.20 points to touch a high of 22,891.90 intra-day. However, pressure was evident in some parts of the market amid this bumper rally.
Slowdown is seen in midcap smallcap
Despite strong buying in major stocks, investor mood in the broader market is somewhat cautious. The Nifty Midcap 100 was down nearly half a percent. Along with this, the Nifty Smallcap 100 also appeared under pressure, shedding around 1 percent. These statistics show that investors are currently focusing more on safe and large companies.
A direct benefit of softness in crude oil
There are many big reasons behind this bumper surge in the stock market. The biggest reason for this is the fall in crude oil prices. According to a recent report by Reuters, the US is now considering easing restrictions on oil fleets. With the arrival of this important news, pressure on crude oil has increased in the global market. The effect was that global oil benchmark Brent crude slipped to close to $104 per barrel. This is very positive news for a country like India which imports more oil than it needs. Due to this reason, the enthusiasm of investors has increased.
IT sector becomes the savior of the market
The biggest support to the domestic market today comes from the IT sector. There is a big global reason behind it. AI stocks are on a heavy selloff these days. Because of the sell-off, the South Korean index Kospi, which is heavily dependent on AI stocks, fell about 9 percent. But this decline in AI stocks has brightened Indian IT services stocks. In the domestic market, Nifty IT rose over 2 percent. The surge largely captured the sell-off in PSU banking stocks. Nifty PSU Bank Index has fallen by over 2 percent today. However, private banks also gave good support to the market which led the Nifty Private Bank Index to gain over 1 percent.
Value buying trend in cheap stocks
Value buying has also played a major role in the market boom. Due to the recent massive decline, shares of many strong and good companies started to be available in the market at very cheap prices. Smart investors took advantage of this opportunity. Heavy buying was seen at lower levels. When investors buy good stocks at low prices, it is called value buying. This strategy gave strong support to the market today.
A strong rupee gave confidence to investors
The strong rally in the stock market has also been supported by the strengthening rupee. The rupee opened 24 paise higher against the US dollar today. It was trading at 94.92 in the currency market. This strengthening of the rupee in the foreign exchange market boosts the confidence of foreign investors. When the rupee strengthens, the economy benefits, which creates a positive environment in the stock market as well.
