Apple’s first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, has generated a lot of interest among consumers. Its initial stock sold out in many markets as soon as pre-booking began. After this, the dates for the delivery of the phone also started moving forward. Customers in some places may now have to wait until January 2027.
However, Apple has not yet revealed how many phones were made available for sale in the first phase of pre-booking. In such a situation, it is difficult to say whether the reason for the rapid depletion of the initial stock is due to heavy customer demand or because the company initially made less units available.
Why did the stock run out as soon as the pre-booking started?
Pre-booking of iPhone Duo started from October 16. Customers in several markets, including the US, showed interest in buying it and the initial stock was soon sold out. After this the estimated delivery dates started to vary.
For some configurations in the US, deliveries were previously expected in November, but this date has now been extended to January 2027 in some cases. In China too, Apple’s official website listed the phone’s delivery date as January 2027. At the same time, all its models were seen out of stock on the e-commerce platform.
However, out-of-stocks and delivery delays do not prove that demand is the biggest reason. The situation will be clear only after the information about the company’s initial supply comes out.
More demand or less supply, what is the reason?
iPhone Duo has a foldable design. The manufacturing process of such a phone can be more complicated than that of a typical smartphone. In such a situation, limited initial production and supply can be a potential cause of delivery delays.
On the other hand, consumer interest in phones with new designs and premium features could also affect the stock. Currently, Apple has neither revealed the initial stock number nor specified an official reason for the delay. Therefore, at present it is not appropriate to attribute any single cause.
How much does iPhone Duo cost in India?
Apple has introduced iPhone Duo in the premium segment. In India, its base model with 256GB storage is priced at ₹2,99,900. At the same time, customers who want more storage will have to shell out ₹4,49,900 for the top model with 2TB.
The phone will be available in Star White and Night Sky color options. Its sale in India is going to start from October 23. In such a situation, it will be important for customers who are eyeing this phone to look at the availability and delivery date along with the price.
iPhone Duo will get these special features
The iPhone Duo has a foldable design that opens like a book. When the phone is off, its external screen measures 5.4 inches. When opened, you get a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR display. The screen is also given a nano texture finish. For performance, it has the A20 Pro chipset, while for software it runs on iOS 27.
For photography, there are two 48-megapixel cameras on the back of the phone. Talking about connectivity, it will not have a physical SIM tray. This phone supports eSIM only. That is, before buying, customers should also check whether their mobile operator offers eSIM facility or not.
