Maruti Suzuki’s electric SUV e Vitara has done well in terms of exports. The total number of units of this India-made electric SUV shipped abroad has crossed 50,000. The company started its exports in August 2025 from its plant in Hathalpur, Gujarat. Now this car is being sold in about 50 countries. Among these, Europe is the largest market.

According to Maruti Suzuki, the company accounted for around 93 percent of passenger vehicle electric cars exported from India between April and September 2026. This shows that the e Vitara has an important role to play in increasing the penetration of Indian electric vehicles in foreign markets.

How did the figure of 50 thousand units be crossed?

Foreign supply of the Maruti E Vitara first started from Europe. In the year 2025, in its initial consignment, more than 2,900 vehicles were shipped from Pipavav port in Gujarat to 12 countries in Europe. Even after this, Europe remained the largest market for this SUV.

Exports for its sale in Japan began in September 2025. Japan has now become the second largest export market for Maruti Suzuki in FY 2026-27. Here the company also has good availability of Fronx and Jimny 5-door along with e Vitara. The total export units of these three models have crossed the one lakh mark in Japan. The company is shipping the electric SUV to around 50 countries including Britain, Norway, Germany, Japan and Switzerland.

How is the Vitara in terms of battery and power?

The Maruti Suzuki E Vitara comes in two battery pack options. It has 49 kWh and 61 kWh batteries. The electric motors provided with them deliver power of 142 bhp and 172 bhp respectively.

Initially it was designed for overseas markets, but now it is available for sale in the Indian market as well. This model is also special for the company as it is Suzuki’s first global battery electric vehicle and is manufactured in India.

Production capacity of vehicles increased at Halipur plant

The Hathalpur plant in Gujarat is a major manufacturing and export hub for the E-Vitara. When exports of this electric SUV started, the plant had an annual production capacity of 7.5 lakh vehicles. Now it has been increased to 10 lakh vehicles per year.

According to the company, this is the first Suzuki plant in the world to have the capacity to produce one million vehicles annually at one location. In this plant so far a total of Rs. 25,288.7 crores have been invested. In the financial year 2025-26, almost half of the vehicles shipped overseas by Maruti Suzuki were supplied from this plant.

Maruti Suzuki is stronger than ever in exports

Maruti Suzuki’s export business is not limited to electric vehicles. According to SIAM data, the company has been India’s largest passenger vehicle exporter for five consecutive years from FY 2021-22 to 2025-26. The company accounted for more than 50 percent of the total passenger vehicles exported from India between April and September 2026. Currently, Maruti Suzuki exports 16 models to around 120 countries. e Vitara is the newest model included in this list and it is also the only electric vehicle among them.

These expensive features are installed in the car, but in real life they will hardly be useful to you.
