Triumph has introduced its adventure bike Tiger 1200 with several major changes. This time the bike has a more powerful engine, better suspension and new safety technology than before. Apart from this, the bike has also been added with radar features, which will alert the rider about the surrounding traffic while on the road. Its updated model is expected to arrive in India from March 2027. Here it will be offered in two variants, GT Pro and Rally Explorer.

Change in engine, now you will get more power

The new Tiger 1200 is powered by a 1,200cc T-plane triple-cylinder engine. This engine now churns out 158 PS i.e. around 156 bhp at 9,250 rpm. Compared to the old model, its power has increased by 8 PS. Triumph has modified its cylinder head, pistons, valves and fuel injection system to improve the engine. The gearbox and shaft drive have also been updated, so that the engine and gears are easier to manage while riding the bike.

The company has also tried to make the bike easy to handle at low speeds. The crawling speed of the bike can be reduced by around 6 kmph with the help of the new engine. This will help the bike slow down in traffic, maneuver through tight spaces and maintain control at slow speeds.

New suspension and change in seat height

The new Tiger 1200 features SHOW EERA HEIGHTFLEX semi-active suspension. It has three options, firm, medium and soft. The rider can choose the suspension setup according to the road and his needs.

It also has an automatic ride-height feature. When the bike stops, its seat height is lowered by 30 mm and when it starts moving again, the bike returns to its normal height. There will also be an option to set the seat at two different heights. At the same time, with the optional low seat, the seat height can be up to 790mm when the bike is closed. The bike also has a center stand assist feature. This increases the preload of the suspension for some time, making it easier to place the bike on the center stand.

Both the variants will get 19-inch wheels at the front and 17-inch wheels at the rear. Suspension travel is 200mm. The GT Pro gets cast aluminum wheels, while the Rally Explorer gets spoke wheels. Both get Brembo Stylema brakes. A maximum of eight riding modes will also be available depending on the model.

Radar technology will provide greater security

The new Tiger 1200 features a 7-inch HD touchscreen, which supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A separate compartment with cooling and USB-C charging facility will also be available to house the phone. In addition, it gets adaptive LED headlights to provide better road illumination during cornering.

Bosch radar system is installed on the front and rear of the bike. With their help, features like adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, emergency braking assistance and blind-spot alert will be available. Group ride assistance is also provided to communicate distance to oncoming traffic and maintain coordination between riders traveling together. It will also get cornering ABS and traction control.

Two variants will be available in India

The GT Pro will get a 20-litre fuel tank, while the Rally Explorer has a larger 30-litre tank. A large capacity tank will be useful for those traveling long distances. Both variants will get a revised body design, new rider and pillion seats with thicker foam, heated seats and adjustable heated grips at three levels.

According to Triumph Chief Product Officer Steve Sargent, the new changes make the Tiger 1200 more powerful, easy to drive and modern. The company says that despite these updates, the fun of riding the bike has been retained.

This electric SUV may also enter India, competing with the Tata Nexon EV
