Ducati has launched its new off-road motorcycle Desmo450 EDX in the Indian market. Its ex-showroom price has been kept at Rs 18.55 lakh. The company has launched this bike in India less than a month after its global debut. Along with this, the Ducati Desmo450 MX factory has also been launched. The price of which is 21.26 lakh rupees. Whereas, the 2026 Desmo450 MX will be available at Rs 17.24 lakh as before. However, the standard 2027 Desmo450 MX model is yet to be brought to India.

Ducati Desmo450 EDX: Design

The Desmo450 EDX is specifically designed with Enduro and cross-country riding in mind. Compared to the factory MX, some changes have been made to make the bike easier to ride on rough roads and long off-road journeys. It has a fuel tank of 8.5 litres, while the MX has a factory capacity of 7.2 litres. The bike is fitted with Pirelli Scorpion XC mid-soft tyres, designed for trail riding. Its chassis and Showa suspension are also set up in such a way that shocks are felt less on rough roads. Despite these changes, the weight of the bike has been kept at 107.1 kg without fuel.

Engines and Features

The Ducati Desmo450 EDX has a 449.6cc single-cylinder engine. It generates 63.5 hp of power at 9,400 rpm and 53.5 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. Ducati’s special desmodromic valve system is available in it. In this, instead of the usual spring, mechanical actuators act to open and close the valve. The special feature of this engine is that it delivers 70% of its maximum torque at just 4,200 rpm. This helps in handling the bike on difficult roads and sharp turns.

Talking about electronics, it has features like traction control, launch control, engine brake control and bi-directional quickshifter. Apart from this, different power and riding modes are also available.

What’s so special about the Ducati Desmo450 MX Factory?

The Desmo450 MX is built for factory racing. It weighs 104 kg without fuel. It gets Titanium Akrapovic Exhaust, Special Engine Mapping, Billet Triple Clamps and Holeshot Device. At the rear, it gets a bigger sprocket with 51 teeth instead of 49, which gives better torque to the rear wheel when exiting a turn.

It has a 49mm Showa adjustable inverted front fork, which has 310mm of travel. The rear monoshock has 301mm of wheel travel. Both suspensions have a special coating, which reduces friction and maintains strength. The bike has 21-inch front and 19-inch wire-spoke wheels at the rear. These are fitted with Pirelli Scorpion MX32 mid-soft tyres. For braking, there are 260 mm Galfer discs at the front and 240 mm Brembo calipers at the rear.
