The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the dates for the Class 10 and 12 practical examinations for the academic year 2026-27. Practical exams, project work and internal assessment will start from November 9 in winter session schools. The Board has also issued necessary guidelines to schools regarding their organization. Under this, schools have to fulfill obligations like appointing external examiners, uploading students’ marks and submitting examination photographs.
As per the notification of CBSE, practical examinations, project evaluation and internal evaluation of class 10 and 12 will be conducted in winter session schools from November 9 to December 19, 2026. The board has clarified that this time table is only for schools having winter vacations. The Board will issue a separate notice for schools having a regular academic session.
Only students included in LOC will get the opportunity
The board has instructed the schools to prepare the final list of students before the practical examination. Only those students will be allowed to appear for the examination, project evaluation and internal evaluation, whose names will be recorded in the Online List of Candidates (LOC). The schools have to complete all the assessments within the stipulated time and upload the marks of the students online.
If there are more than 30 students then a separate session has to be formed.
CBSE has made special arrangements to maintain transparency and uniformity in the conduct of examinations. Schools having more than 30 students for practical examination and project evaluation will have to organize two or three sessions in a day. The number of sessions will be decided based on the facilities and capacity available in the school laboratory.
It is necessary to upload a group photo of each batch
The board has also directed schools to upload photographs to monitor the evaluation process. CBSE will provide an app link for this. Schools have to take group photo during practical examination of each batch and upload it through this link. In addition the schools shall approach the respective regional offices as required for the appointment of external examiners and inspectors. Internal evaluation will be conducted only once in class 10th. It will be mandatory for all schools to adhere to the prescribed time limit.
