Maruti Suzuki is facing the challenge of meeting the growing demand for cars ahead of the festive season. The company had more than 2 lakh car bookings pending till October 1. To meet this customer demand, the company has started increasing production.
Maruti Suzuki’s senior executive officer (marketing and sales) Partho Banerjee said at the monthly sales media briefing that the company has over 2 lakh bookings pending till October 1. It means customers have booked the car, but are still waiting for delivery.
Only 17 days of stock left
The company’s dealer network had about 17 days of stock till October 1. In such a scenario, it will be important for Maruti to maintain supply amid rising demand in the coming festive season. According to Partho Banerjee, it is not just about making more cars for the company. Both the quality of the car and its availability have to be given equal attention.
Keeping this in mind, Maruti Suzuki is also ramping up production from the new plant started at Kharghoda in Haryana. Brezza is currently being manufactured on the new production line of this plant. The company says that due to the new plant and increased output, the supply chain is going to improve in the coming time.
Domestic sales increased by 30% in September
Let us tell you that Maruti Suzuki has also seen good growth in domestic sales in September 2026. The company has sold a total of 1,91,794 units including sales by other vehicle manufacturers. Which is about 30 percent more than September 2025.
The company is leading in exports as well
Maruti Suzuki’s export business was also very strong. In September, the company shipped 44,219 vehicles overseas, which is about 5 percent more than last year. In the first half of April to September, the company’s exports reached a record level of 2.32 lakh units. There was an increase of 12.2 percent year-on-year.
According to the company, Maruti accounted for 52 percent of total car exports from India during April to August. The company claims that during this period it has shipped more cars abroad than the total number of exports of the remaining 17 car manufacturers in the country.
Brezza becomes the most demanded car
Brezza 2026 accounts for a large portion of Maruti’s pending bookings. The booking of this SUV has already crossed the 95,000 unit mark and is expected to cross the 1 lakh mark soon. According to the company, over 15,000 units of the Brezza were sold in September. Keeping in view the growing demand, its production at the Kharghoda plant is being continuously increased.
While booking the Brezza, customers had various choices regarding the powertrain. About 38 percent of the total bookings were for the turbo variant, 40 percent for the underbody CNG version and 22 percent for the 1.5-litre petrol variant. At the same time, the updated Baleno also recorded sales of 25,000 units in the first month of its launch.
Demand has increased from small cars to SUVs
According to Maruti Suzuki, sales of the entry-level hatchback grew by 86 percent in the first half. The mid-size hatchback segment has also grown by 40 percent. The SUV segment’s sales have increased by 56 percent. This means that the demand for the company’s cars is not limited to just one segment, rather the consumer interest has increased from small cars to SUVs.
The company is optimistic about the demand during the festive season
Now the company’s biggest focus is to convert the growing bookings into on-time delivery. For this, work is being done to increase production and improve supply in the new plant.
Maruti Suzuki’s dominance continues! Over 1.81 lakh vehicles were sold in September, again becoming No.1
