Ducati’s new motorcycle Formula 73 is a buzz among premium bike lovers. The Italian company has launched it in India at an ex-showroom price of ₹20 lakh. The special thing is that this is not an ordinary bike, but a limited edition model. Only 873 units will be built worldwide. According to the company, all the units slated for India have been sold. It means that now no new booking can be made to buy this bike.

Ducati designed Formula 73 to commemorate its 100-year-old heritage and success in the world of racing. It combines the look of a vintage bike with today’s technology.

The design is inspired by the 1973 bike

The design of the Ducati Formula 73 is inspired by the company’s famous 750 Super Sport Desmo, which was introduced in 1973. This bike is also associated with the victory in the 200 Miglia race held in Imola in the year 1972. A glimpse of this historic model can be seen in the new Formula in 1973.

This bike is designed in silver and aqua green colors. There is a golden stripe on the fuel tank, while the clip-on handle, bar-end mirror and small front design give it a distinct identity. Special aluminum parts have also been installed in it.

Each bike of this limited edition will get a different serial number. In addition, buyers will be provided with a certificate of authenticity and photographs and sketches related to the old model. This makes this bike special for those who also value motorcycle history.

How powerful is the bike in terms of engine and performance?

The Ducati Formula 73 has a 803 CC Desmodou engine. It produces 73 hp of power at 8,250 RPM and 65.2 Nm of torque at 7,000 RPM.

It has a steel trellis frame. 41 mm KYB suspension is available at the front and preload adjustable suspension at the rear. For braking, the front gets a four-piston Brembo caliper with a 330 mm disc. The bike is fitted with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres. It weighs 183 kg without fuel. Apart from this, the company has also provided a special silencer developed in collaboration with Termigno.

It also excels in safety and features

Formula 73 features cornering ABS, traction control, quick shift and various riding modes. The bike has a 4.3 inch color TFT screen and full LED lighting.

The rider can select sport and road mode as per his requirement. Apart from this, if customers want, they can also avail additional features like anti-theft system, heated handle grips and navigation facility. According to Ducati India Managing Director Bipul Chandra, Formula 73 brings together the company’s old heritage and new technology. The sale of all the units destined for India shows the interest of the customers in this particular bike.
