Volkswagen has unveiled its new electric SUV ID. The Tiguan has been unveiled. The company is gearing up to replace the ID.4 and ID.5 in its global electric portfolio. The electric SUV is expected to go on sale in Europe in early 2027. With the new model, Volkswagen is not only making electric cars more practical but also focusing on cabin quality and ease of use.

What’s special about the ID Tiguan is that the company has tried to reduce over-reliance on touch controls. In Volkswagen’s previous electric cars, many functions were operated by touch-sensitive controls, which were inconvenient to use for some people. Physical buttons have been brought back in the new SUV for essential functions like climate control and volume.

A premium cabin will be available with a new design

Volkswagen ID. The company’s new pure positive design language is seen in the Tiguan. Its front profile has been kept cleaner than before. It gets LED lighting and a more upright SUV stance. Its design is designed to make its presence on the road feel more powerful than the ID.4, while maintaining its compact electric SUV appearance.

Major changes have been made to the cabin as well. A 10-inch digital instrument cluster is provided in front of the driver, while a 15-inch touchscreen is available for the infotainment system. There is also an option for a separate 12-inch screen for the front passenger. The company has worked on improving the quality of seat upholstery and materials used in the cabin.

Talking about the features, it can get options like panoramic sunroof, front seats with massage and ventilation and Harman Kardon sound system. Apart from this, a small storage space i.e. frunk is also provided in the front part of the car. This extra storage available in electric cars can be useful in everyday use.

Three powertrain options, range up to 600Km

Volkswagen ID. The Tiguan will be offered with different battery and motor configurations. Its base variant will have a 58kWh battery and a rear-mounted electric motor, which will generate 188hp. The rear-wheel drive variant above this gets a larger 77kWh battery and 282hp.

At the same time, the top variant will be offered with an all-wheel drive system. This version will generate a maximum power of 299PS and deliver power to both axles. Volkswagen claims that depending on the configuration, this SUV can cover up to 600 kilometers on a single charge in the WLTP test cycle. However, actual range may vary depending on driving style, weather, battery and road conditions.

A towing capacity of up to two tonnes

The new electric SUV will also have features like one-pedal driving and connected travel assist. Its driver assist system also has the ability to recognize traffic lights. Apart from this, it has vehicle-to-load i.e. V2L function, through which external electric devices can be run from the car battery. According to the company, I.D. The Tiguan can tow two tonnes.
